I didnt know that Knees bent that wayWell yesterday’s enjoyment of the Winter Olympics was cut short when I witnessed the uber-nasty fall of Zhang Dan in the ice skating. For those of you who missed it, imagine skidding over the ice whilst landing doing the splits the hard way. Hard to watch and even tougher, I would imagine, to get up and finish your routine, which is what she did, and so I was pleased to see that such perseverence earnt them a silver medal. We Brits have a soft spot for people who are crap at sport, what other country would make a hero out of Eddie The Eagle Edwards?blimey I should have fallen for a bigger bloke, he's tinyBeing Valentine’s Day, and a sucker for all that rubbish, I bought Jenny Pride & Prejudice on DVD. Not my kind of film for many reasons, including the lack of interstellar travel, gratuitous light saber violence or a single reference to World War 2.

It’s only possible attraction was the presence of the comely Keira Knightley, so I was surprised to see the equally engaging Rosamund Pike playing sister Jane. I am pleased to report that it is great film. Once I had become accustomed to the olde worlde English, I found it to be an excellently acted, entertaining and beautifully directed film well worth a watch. In fact I suggest that it is worth a couple of viewings to enjoy the almost oil-painting feel of the photography. The DVD also has some interesting features on the various stately homes used in the film. There’s also an “alternative US ending”, which I couldn’t bear to watch at the time. Maybe later.

My bizarre spam continues, I am currently receiving around 30 comments a day from random hotmail accounts telling me how wonderful the site is, presumably with links to dodgy sites built in somewhere. To be honest it is starting to get a little annoying, but you have to remember that the internet is 10% useful information, 90% useless people.

Baby is coming on well now, Jenny is now in the 3rd trimester (ie not long for the uninformed, which included me a year ago, although to be fair, that is fairly easy to deduce given the name), although Jenny is in full baby preparation mode, which means that is virtually impossible to have a conversation with her on any other subject. I believe that it gets worse when baby arrives. Hospital bag is packed and as soon as we finish decorating our room, the nursery will be ready. Doing all this and cracking on with my OU course is proving rather challenging, but I figure that I may as well get used to no sleep now, rather than having it forced upon me in May…
