Conspiracy theories 02: The Da Vinci Code case a load of hogwash? I think so
Posted by: Matt in booksSo let me get this right. The authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail, a book suggesting evidence that Jesus really married Mary Magdalene and had a child, and all that other stuff in the Da Vinci Code, is a breach of their copyright and we are supposed to believe that this isn’t a massive publicity stunt?
v
1. Both books are published by the same publishing house.
2. The case is brought in the UK and that happens to be the setting for a large part of Da Vinci code. Why not sue in the US where the chance of massive compensation is much higher?
3. There’s a movie out of the Da Vinci code for those that have been living on Mars.
4. Since when can a fictional novel breach copyright on historical information?
5. Up until today most of the planet has read Da Vinci, and virtually no-one has read the other book. Despite that books about Dan Brown’s novel sell like hot cakes.
Any more suggestions would be gratefully received, but I think that this is evidence enough to convict, your honour.
