I have always wondered why parents waffle on about their children, day in, day out. However now being a parent myself, I can understand the temptation. After all, it seems that every day, Ben is doing something new.

This week he has really started to interact with toys, reaching out, knocking them and watching how they fall etc. His best achievement however is that if you put the effort in to smile and talk baby for a good five minutes, you might be lucky enough to get a smile out of him.

Or maybe even a giggle.

Of course this is still a relatively rare occurrence. Mostly he sleeps, feeds, cries and plays, but yesterday he even stopped feeding from the bottle to give me a smile. Very cool indeed, just one smile seems to melt away all of the troubles and frustrations of a day in the office.

Thom Yorke - The EraserNo not the critically panned box-office flop starring Arnie Schwarzenegger, James Caan and that woman that sung that lovesong with the video in the snow. Whilst I await the release of a new Radiohead album, I note that Thom Yorke’s debut solo release, The Eraser, is released next month.

Whilst this is bound to be a wierd one, it seems to be accompanied by some pretty impressive artwork by Thom himself, carved in to linoleum and representing the apocalypse descending on London town. Head over to Thom’s site for more information on both the artwork and the album. It’s all cryptic of course, but this IS Radiohead remember…

So when will the new Radiohead album be out? Well it was supposed to be out in March this year, but with Thom’s solo release we surely won’t see it until Christmas or 2007 now. Apparently they are performing seven or so new tracks on tour in the US so it looks like 2007 is a cert.

Well you have probably noticed the lack of updates recently, caused by a recent bereavement in the family. Not ready to talk about it yet here, but I’m sure I will. In the meantime, some of the subjects I’ve discussed in recent times relating to goals and luck seem even more relevent as I come to terms with what has happened.

In the meantime I am helped by one of Wayne Dwyer’s quotes posted recently over at the winning attitude.

“Most people are searching for happiness outside of themselves. That’s a fundamental mistake. Happiness is something you are, and it comes from the way you think.”

I could easily tell myself that I am unlucky and to let control leave me, but I won’t. Time heals but only If you don’t damage yourself further during the healing process.

BBCThree and BBC2 are now screening the US hit comedy How I Met Your Mother. The show tells the story of a group of friends looking for love in New York, starring Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris. It is kind of a cross between Friends and American pie, with the characters certainly reminiscent of the hit movie, including Neil Patrick Harris in the Stifler role, as Barnie, the womaniser who frequents the baggage reclaim area of airports as a way of picking women up.

The humour is quite British, and I would hope that it takes off over here, as it is definitely worth a look, and has landed a second season in the US.
