Stage 1 of the kitchen pretty complete, just a bit of artexing to do and the small matter of a fridge… Next up tiling and new floor, so I’ll stop harping on about it for a while and probably go back to babytalk for a while.

Did you notice the spotlights?? Cool…

Kitchen again, just for a change...

So today was a no-show from our kitchen fitters. Unfortunately John the electrician is poorly so another day with only the microwave to keep us in hot food. Not a big deal really, we can live with that. Apparently NEFF have discontinued the fridge that we wanted, which leaves us fridgeless for 3 weeks until the new stock comes in. We have a temporary fridge so we can survive for a few weeks, the only concern will be if baby decides to make an appearance ahead of due date.

Along those lines Jenny is getting heftier by the minute. The normally slim waistline is now up to a monster 41″ and growing. The end result is that she is starting waddle and wobble in comedy fashions, and she is also getting very tired, probably because she can’t sleep through the night.

Anyway John the spark should be back tomorrow to finish off the electrics, which will leave us with a functional kitchen until they return to fix the snags and install the new fridge. This moves us on to the next stage: tiles and floor. Unfortunately we can’t get them to tile until the cabinets have been fitted correctly, so it looks like the whole project will probably not be complete before baby arrives. Not a big problem except that it means that the dining room is going to be full of kitchen stuff for a couple of months. Not ideal.

Too much bling??I heard an advert on local radio today from The Leicestershire Constabulary. Entitled “Too Much Bling, Give Us a Ring”, the concept is that if you know someone that is obviously living above their means then call the Police and they will be investigated.

The Proceeds of Crime Act, which came into effect in 2002, allows police officers to pursue known criminals through the courts and effectively snatch back any ill-gotten gains. Leicestershire Constabulary is at the forefront of using this legislation to strip criminals of their ill-gotten gains with more than £2.2 million worth of property and cash seized from criminals since the legislation came into force.

Now whilst I fully support the investigation and prosecution of people who are fraudulently sponging off the state, selling drugs etc., not everyone who seems to have more money than they should is actually a criminal and I don’t like the idea of being investigated just because someone in the street thinks that my car is too expensive!

Baby's room (nearly finished)The border is still to be put up, and some colourful pictures added to the walls, but if baby arrives early, he or she has a place to sleep :)

Blackout curtains by the way, to keep waking stimulus down and a nice rocking stroke nursing chair to keep mummy and baby happy during those long breastfeeding sessions!

Kitchen day 5 - looking good! And things were going so swimmingly. The problem with leaving us with a half finished kitchen over a weekend is that we are going to use it and spot problems with it. We have identified a few snags that are going to need fixing. (more…)

Frank Martin returns as the Driver with no nameCaught Transporter 2 yesterday. Continuing the story of Frank Martin (Jason Statham) as the Transporter, a professional driver of the ‘ask no questions’ variety, who turns out to be an ex-special forces commando and all-round super bad arse.

Doing a favour for a friend, Frank is playing bodyguard to the son of a politician when he suspects that the child is in danger. When the danger materialises in the form of waif-like ubernutter Lola (Katie Nauta), the clock begins ticking as Frank races to save the boy and prevent the deaths of many innocents on the streets of Miami. It seems that a lot of visitors to my site seem to find us by googling “maghook”. So I thought that I would put them out of their misery but giving the fictional yet oh so useful device its own page. So if you are that way inclined, head over to maghook central.

If you aren’t that way inclined, bother not sir.
